Announcing the Rhapsody app for Tablets!

Dear Rhapsody Subscribers,
We are extremely excited to announce our latest update - our Rhapsody app is now optimized for Android Tablets in version 2.2.2!

We didn’t just resize Rhapsody – we re-imagined the Rhapsody experience for the tablet. You’ll find it more engaging, more touchable, with loads of content and new paths to music discovery.

We integrated Rhapsody’s unique editorial content into a magazine-like experience, with rich imagery and links across the universe of reviews, playlists and features. Touch, slide and tap through articles with playable links to albums of the day, specially curated playlists, and artist and album reviews.

Additionally, from the home screen you’ll see Suggestions for albums based on your listening history. Browse Genres and find New Releases or explore our Staff Picks. As on the phone, you’ll also be able to create and download your playlists to take with you offline.

Check out the new Rhapsody experience and let us know what you think!

Tablet requirements: Android 3.0 or greater, and screen size of 9" or greater.

Thanks for listening!
The Rhapsody for Android team

    sad I’m a little sad/frustrated
Just installed the latest update on my asus transformer tablet. Gotta admit the interface looks nice and probably makes it easier to search and find music. However the playback functionality could use some work. I miss the scroll bar to forward or reverse to any point in a song. Also can't figure out for the life of me how to remove a single song from the play queue. Seems like I have to clear the whole queue to remove a song.

  • Hello thachnguyen.468 -
Yes, you are correct about inability to remove a single track from the queue at this time. We are already working on the next version of the tablet app, and will include much more functionality in the next update (coming soon!).

In the meantime, we appreciate your feedback and hope you enjoy some of the new features!

The development team in Rhapsody is so slow paced. With today's technology, how come you are always behind unlike the other music companies.

    sad I’m furious
I am absolutely livid that you would dare to release this app in this horrible state. I was invited to beta-test it and after every time I would uninstall it and go back to the phone app. Now I have no choice. Rhapsody, you need to ask yourself, "what is the point of this app/service?" because the way the tablet app is currently designed, the answer is not "to listen to music". All I want to do is listen to music and yet now the queue is smaller on my tablet than it is on my phone and with half the functionality. This is a complaint I've always had with the Rhapsody PC software since the very beginning, that there ought to be a player-only mode for when I don't want to have to constantly see a giant Music Guide or Library window just to be able to listen to music, but it has never been more insulting than on the tablet app. The old phone app scaled up to the tablet was way better than this. Even the non-queue parts of the tablet app that it looks like someone actually cared about still seem cheap and slow to me. I really want to be loyal to Rhapsody and talk it up to my friends, but it is hard when your software is so unbelievably bad compared to any other service.

We need an update pretty soon or i'll cancel my subscription, I have to admit that it looks very nice on the galaxy 10, but we need a lot of improvements like fix the search window, add top artist tracks to queue list, control of the current song, its hard to believe too many people behind rhapsody, can come up with a lot of problems

Love the fact that the haters are always the ones to post.. Negativity is always what folks talk about.. If the customer is happy the posting stream just isn't the same..

D/L The app now with a pragmatic I understand in hand while I do.. Rome wasnt built in a day folks, give the folks a break.. There working on it and always will be.. There will be another update for this and another one after that. It's the nature of the beast.. Look at Google there the same, they never stop improving and working on there systems. Yet people always scream bloody murder and keep eating the cake..

To the Rhapsody Crew.. Keep up the good work it is appreciated.

    Yours through the screen

    • Respectfully, I disagree. That it takes time to make major changes and it will be done by smaller incremental changes I understand. Improving too slowly I can accept. In this case, though, the new tablet app is actually a significant step backwards from the phone app which I used to be able to get and use on my tablet, but no longer since this tablet app replaced it.

The tablet app is a huge downgrade. Jumping to any point in the track and removing individual songs from playlists are features that any music player should have.

I've downgraded from Premier Plus to Premier. I'll upgrade back when these features return. If the Android mobile app removes these features as part of an "upgraded" app, I'll be cancelling my account.

Hi, I am on an acer iconia a100 7 inch tab. I can't seem to find the Rhapsody menu icon which is usually the fourth icon from the bottom left corner of the screen (shows up on other apps). What I want to do specifically is to go into offline mode. I know one of the requirements for the new tablet app is minimum screen size of 9 in. So does that mean that the rhapsody version I have installed from Android Market is the old smartphone version? Can somebody please help me figure this out? Thanks.

Any news on an upgrade? I just got my Transformer Prime and I have to say I'm unhappily surprised at the Rhapsody tablet app. My Droid EVO app is AWESOME and I was thinking the tablet app would be at least as good.

    My concerns:

    1. Extremely small player...full screen mode would be cool.
    2. No progress/scroll bar during song playback (VERY handy for musicians learning songs by ear)
    3. Screen doesn't rotate (not overly important, just surprised it doesn't).
    4. Can't eliminate individual songs from queue.
    5. It appears you can't create a playlist from your queued songs.

I've been with Rhapsody from way back in the Napster days, and certainly won't cancel my subscription over this. I'm just surprised the tablet app is seemingly a large leap backwards.

Rhapsody on my galaxy tab 2 7.0 is terrible. I cant use the tablet version because its only 7 inches and the smartphone version sucks because ICS doesnt have a menu button

Is there any way you can code the app for 7 inch tablets? I am unable to install the phone app on my Nexus 7 and the tablet app is only for 9 inches and above. If with the resolution of the Nexus 7 being 1280 by 720 I suspect you could just display the content for a 10 inch on this particular 7 inch.
Thanks for a decent service and good customer support.

Trust me, you're way better off with the phone version. The tablet version is terrible. I have a 10 inch landscape tablet and as much as the phone version does waste a lot of space on it, I still wish I could get the phone version back. The tablet version is basically unusable. The area reserved for the queue is teeny and not resizable. You can't reorder or remove songs from the queue except clearing the whole thing.

Can you still get phone version for tablets? Labs.rhapsody.com/android just redirects to rhapsody.com.... I can't handle not being able to manage queue.

I cant play my downloads in shuffle. Is there something that I'm not doing, or is that feature not available for the tablet app with Android?
