all my songs streamed from napster do not play, device says no license to play. I did everything possible... updated, etc.
Also when I checked my library most albums only have 1 or 2 songs so I cant even reput the whole album in again. Talked to Rhapsody twice today and no one was of help. Rep. said someone would call me back, never happened. Was Napster customer for years and hate to lose all my music I had for years.

I have a similar problem. It says in Rhapsody that I need to update the licenses on my device. When I click 'update track licenses,' I get an error (0x1,0x8004c029,) and it says it is unable to sync the track licenses.

Napster subscription tracks will not work once their license expires. They were licensed using the Napster DRM servers, which have been shut off, so once the licenses for those tracks expire the tracks will become unplayable.

any .wma track will not play. these are tracks i pad $0.99 for years ago! why should i have to repay for them now because you all thought it was a great idea to merge? i dont care about the license issue! i paid 99 cents so I should have the license on my computer to play as often as i want! amm my MP3's play fine OFFLINE the .wma's do not. i own these tracks i want them to work, so rhapsody needs to fix it!

David, so are you saying that all the music that I have stored on my mp3 that the license through napster is now unrecoverable becasue the license lapsed? Please tell me someone did not think about this being a problem for Napster customers whose accounts were taken over by Rhapsody... I have a good deal of time invested in buiding this library and someone is going to pay for it if I have not rebuild this again..... Very pissed currently

Yeah, what a load of crap! This company sucks and weve been with Napster for fricking years! Im so completely disappointed and turned off. Forget it! Cancelling my subscription!! Lost ALL my music on my MP3 and in our almost 1/2 of our library. Thanks Napster for screwing us over!! So pissed!!

So I've just lost everything I've paid $14.95 a month for 5 years? And I'm expected to spend the hundreds of hours attempting to use this painfully slow application to attempt to rebuild my music library... but only partially because Rhapsody only has a fraction of the songs I had from Napster? ARGHHH!!!
-
I also had 5 yrs of music-almost 5,000 tracks of which 700 will play. Napster licenses are expired and Rhapsody won't let me synch any new music to my Zen. I can only add music to my Rhapsody library. I just cancelled my subscription. Customer service could care less! Class action lawsuit is a great idea.

I have tried to use music to go on my phone which is the same phone I used with Napster. I have updated and check license and authorizations. Everything says I should be able to download, burn and transfer and I am a premier plus member. I can not transfer music. Also all my music which was on my phone prior to connecting to Rhapsody has finished. I get an error message stating unable to synchronize licenses. what can I do? Help

Same thing tonarrell. I think Napster users fell victims to corporate takeover. Which means we got screwed.

You are completely accurate! Rhapsody sucks and Napsters gone. I am soooo mad!!!

have never done anything like this, but I am definitely making calls today, i am having the same issues i"m reading as i scroll down, down, down,...(wow) this is the stupidest thing I've ever seen. Rhapsody SHOULD HAVE TAKEN WHATEVER NECESSARY MEASURES TO OBTAIN A DRM LICENSING PROGRAM TO ENSURE THIS WOULDNT HAPPEN...and I find this ordeal ridiculous. Just like everyone else, I have had Napster MORE than 5 years, had barely a moments problem, with ANYTHING, and now all my hours of work...gone. And this might not seem a big deal to others, but to me....music is so important, and I am so glad to see I'm not alone....so, that being said...let the phone calls and questions to an attorney BEGIN!!!!!!!!! I'll keep everyone posted....

I am surprised that Napster customers didn't receive an option to sync their music to the Rhapsody server. It seems like this could have been an automated process (Rhapsody searches for artist/title on the devices and applies the DRM).

I have been experiencing the exact same problems - BUT!!!! I actually followed Rhapsody's instructions, and now everything works fine!
Sign in to your Rhapsody account.
On the Rhapsody main screen, near the top there is a box that reads:
"Napster friends - have questions? We have answers."
Click on the "GO" button. Click on "learn more" beneath the section about mp3 players. You will be instructed to "format" or "initialize" your device - depending on which brand it is. I have a Sony Walkman, and had to "format". I had it unplugged from my pc when I did this.
This essentially wipes the memory clear on your device.
Then, plug your device back in, and sign in, or sync up again on Rhapsody. Click on "My Library", and you should see all the songs you previously had downloaded from Napster. I was quite suprised to see this!
Now it is a matter of selecting which songs you want to download again. I first tried downloading 10 - 20 songs at a time, but that didn't seem to work so well - seemed like the "flow" was erratic. I eventually did about 3 - 5 at a time, and that seemed to work better. The one thing I did find, was that quite a number of songs I had from Napster are not AVAILABLE on Rhapsody without paying for them. Oh well, maybe that will change.....
I had nearly 700 songs with Napster, and now I have about 300 or so. It's kind of a slow process, so don't get frustrated!
Good luck - hope I've made this clear enough to understand. I too have been VERY frustrated with Rhapsody, but at least now I have my music back, until something better comes along.....-
but thats what is bad.. they all should be good.. not just what Rhapsody has...

I, personally, can't believe Napster left all their loyal customers out to dry... we're pretty much SOL as far as our libraries, paid for downloads, all of it! Severely disappointed in Napster and even more so of Rhapsody since they had made NO effort to maintain Napster customers', NOW... FORCEFULLY NEW customers, music libraries and downloads as they were and honor the music we collected for years! To make matters worse... I haven't found anything to replace Napster... so, anyone have any good leads on a different music source, please let me know. I guess for the time being, I'll just go back to d/l from less reputable sites and ripping my cd's to my HD... Thanks Napster! And thank you Rhapsody for your lack of appreciation for your unwilling Napster ex-customers!

I had 5,000+ songs, and for the past 24hrs I have been reloading them into my Rhapsody library--about 800 are there now. This is a nightmare. I spoke with customer support--obviously in India-today. I asked for some financial remuneration and was offered 1 months free service. All Napster people should call and demand this. I will let you know if the credit actually comes through!

i have been with Napster since they began... and have been a paying customer FOREVER.. thanks for nothing.. pain in the butt reloading music... not surprised about Rhapsody.. there was a reason i didnt use them before.

I too came over from Napster, I am completely disgusted with Rhapsody after only a couple of days of trying to recoup my music. I didn't lose any mp3s, however the playback rate and complications of down loading play lists is frustrating. I am sick of the "preparing to down load" message that appears when attempting to down load playlist. I opened an account with MOG tonight, it's not quite what Napster was, but it is a great improvement compared to crapsody. I used the free trial for about thirty minutes and decided to activate (pay) for an account. I just hope that I can get some of my money back from Rhapsody as I paid the annual fee vs the monthly fee. I will be cancelling (during business hours) on Monday.
I am using a DROID X if it matters to anybody.-
I hate the slow D/L... ridiculous! How has MOG been for you?

I'm having the exact same problem half the songs that i've downloaded from Napster have been shaded out....and I can't play the ones on my player due to no license issue.....

Hey folks we got screwed. I heard a guy mention this in Starbucks who use to work for ITunes. He said "that's the way Rhapsody is making extra profit." During the merger negotiations fat cats wanted more out the deal, and a clever loophole called a "No Sync disclosure" would add to the cash pile. So for every song that didn't sync, customers would have to re-pay .99 cent for them again. "Okie Doke" That's why Rhapsody customer service is so aloof, because it's part of the program. What a crime. The 1 percent will always find a way to rob you.

Wow. Rhapsody Executive Management is either stupid, incompetent or both. What a way to treat your new customers. I just dropped $$$$ at Crutchfield for some home theater gear rather than buy at Best Buy (who owns Rhapsody). I will try to avoid purchasing from Best Buy as much as possible in protest of this issue. I would also gladly join a class action lawsuit. This is going to bit them - hard - they just don't realize it yet or they're hoping it will just go away - big mistake Best Buy - you should remedy this issue before the courts do it for you.

ATTENTION! ATTENTION!
I placed a dispute with my bank on Tuesday about not receiving the services I paid for with Rhapsody/Napster. The representative and I asked for any charges for the past YEAR, although he said they may only process it for the past 90 days. Yesterday I was pleasantly surprised several credits back in my account, for what I can only assume is the dispute, since money doesn't normally just appear in accounts without a reason. The quantity of the credits leads me to believe that they were able to overturn the charges for the past year!! GO DO IT!! HURT THEM WHERE IT HURTS THE MOST... THEIR WALLETS!!!! Rhapsody.... it's war!!! And, while I lost when you won... I now WON!!!! My bank is Bank of America, I don't know how every lese's bank will deal with the situation, but, for the first time, I like my bank!!! :) -
