Problem with random play of playlist
I'm having problems with the Rhapsody Android App. I am playing my playlist on random play and it just keeps playing the same 1 or 2 songs. For example, I will start it up and it will play song A, and then if I hit skip to the next song it will play song B, but if I hit skip again, it will just play song A again, and so on and so on. Occasionally a different song will pop up but the problem generally comes back.

Hi Brian,
How big is your queue list? Do you have any downloaded tracks in it?
If you turn shuffle off, and just click next through the queue, do all the tracks play? And then if you turn shuffle back on, do only two tracks play again?
One thing you can try is to clear the queue out and re-add the tracks to your queue and then try it again. This might trigger it to start behaving correctly again.
Let me know if this helps!

I have about 270 songs in my queue. I'm also periodically getting error messages about my queue being too large, but it says something about 800 tracks and I am nowhere near that.
All tracks are downloaded. Also I'm using version 2.1.3.131, is there a more updated version? I don't see an option to upgrade through the android market but I am wondering if a more current version is available. -

Are you in force offline mode? Does the app have orange headers instead of blue ones?
We have a new version in the marketplace as of today. 2.1.4.146. I don't think and upgrade will stop the problem, but you can try it out.
I'm wondering if you are in offline mode because you wouldn't see the online tracks in the queue, which could be why we are saying you are over 800 tracks, when you only have 275 in the queue. -

It happens if I am offline or online. I usually have 3G and wifi off, but it also happens when they are on.
I'm not sure about the queue error message as I only have 270 tracks and they are all downloaded. -

Any updated information you can provide me as a paying customer of this service (for now)? Here is what is now happening--The same song always plays twice, whether I skip ahead or just let the song play through. Always happens, whether I have 3g or Wifi on or off. I don't have the force offline option on. I updated to the new version and it has not helped.

Hi Brian,
The force offline option in in the settings menu. It's a checkbox that you can use to force the app to behave as if it's offline, even though your phone is connected.
At this point, I would say that you should clear out your queue and re-add the tracks again. It seems to me that your queue data just seems to be corrupted. You can delete the queue by hitting the hardware menu button when you have the queue open. Then you can just add your playlists back into the queue from your Library.
Let me know if this changes anything. -

I'm not sure what you mean. I have the following options when in the app on my phone. Which am I supposed to do?
In the "home" section of the app, if I click "menu" on my phone, and then click settings, I get options on playback, the "offline mode" and options on the appearance. There is a button for "remove all downloads". Is that what you mean?
Or--
If I go to "my playlists", I have one playlist with 270 tracks, all are downloaded. Should I delete that playlist and make a new one and re-download the tracks? -

Oh, no...sorry if I wasn't clear. I think you should delete your queue first and then re-add the tracks to the queue and try playing then again.
So, with the queue open, press and hold the hardware menu button and select Delete queue. After that, go back to My Playlists and readd the playlist to the queue. Then play those tracks again. Hopefully this will clear out the issue with only playing a few tracks in the queue on shuffle.
I originally mis-read your previous post, I thought you said that you didn't have a force offline option. Not that is wasn't on. That's why I put in the reference to where the force offline checkbox was.
Try the delete the queue first, then we can go from there. -

I see, I tried that this morning and it seemed to work ok. If the problem comes back I will let you know, thank you.

Great! Thanks Brian. Please do let us know if this happens again.

That never works!!! How about you guys just focus more on software issues and not marketing. Your shuffle sucks, bottom line!!

Here here! I agree woth Lou, the shuffle options on this app are terrible. How about a random play all button that plays all of your playlists in a random order. My 2006 Creative mp3 player had this option, so it can't be that complicated. Also, please stop limiting the queue to 800 tracks. Boo!
