Hello!
We are very pleased to deliver a major update to the Rhapsody App for Android.
This release includes:
- Album & Track download support for offline playback- support to download albums and tracks so you can play this music without the need to be online. This content is surfaced within your library and you can filter/view downloads via an online/offline toggle at the top of the library pages/screens.
- Alternate download location support- Support to allow users to be able to select an alternate download location (a larger SD card).
We hope you enjoy, and as always, let us know your feedback!
Thanks,
Rhapsody's Android team

My phone has three kinds of flash memory: internal phone memory, internal SD card, and an external SD card that you can add. (It's a Galaxy S II)
The internal SD card has this path /mnt/sdcard. This is where Rhapsody was saving tracks to by default.
My external SD card is at /mnt/sdcard/external_sd. When I set Rhapsody to that path, the files went onto the 32 gig SD card that I had added.
Other phones may be similar, so make sure you aren't confusing the two locations.-
How did you find the file path name for the external sd card

Hi Elizabeth,
You need to have a file manager installed on your device. If it doesn't come with one, you can download one from the Google Play Store. I use Astro. When you have a file manager installed, you can navigate through the file structure of the device. Each device is different and has different names for the external card. You just have to look through the file manager to find it.
Hope that helps!

How come if I download a playlist, the "Artists" and "Tracks" don't show up under "My Artists" and "My Tracks" in the library? The downloaded files only show up under the specific playlist. Rhapsody on my old iPod touch didn't work like that and it is extremely inconvenient. This means there is no way for me just to go to the artists and play some songs when I am offline, I have to go try to find it in some playlist somewhere.
This has to be an oversight right? Can this be fixed?
Thank you!- view 1 more comment

Thank you for responding. I hope this is something that can be corrected soon because it basically means downloading a lot of my tracks twice. Which is a little crazy.

Hi Dave, from what I've observed and heard from Rhapsody, the tracks won't be "stored" twice as long as it is the exact same track, so there is no harm in re-downloading and it will take much less time. It's primarily an issue on where the user see the music through the app, and also the fact that if you download via Album or Song download (instead of playlist), it adds those items to your Rhapsody Library, which I don't like either.
But, I'm sure they're studying the issue and figuring out how what options may be more appealing than the current. -

I hate the new update. every since the update rhapsody no longer has all the artist albums or tracks. I am a user who listens to a lot of older music and it is frustrating that I am no longer benefiting from my subscription...

Hi Lanundra,
The new update did not remove any of the content from Rhapsody. What specifically are you looking for? I can help you find it in the updated version. -

Ok, I really like the new update...but I can't figure out how to open the player to listen to the songs I have in my queue without adding a new song to it. The website also says something about a Replay option....I don't seem to have that.

Great update.
My only request is that there's still no easy way to maintain a collection of downloaded songs (much like Rdio's "sync to mobile"), that could be re-downloaded in one step if I reset or changed phones.
Currently, an equivalent workflow in Rhapsody appears to be:
1. Add song/album to library
2. Add song/album to a "My Downloads" playlist
3. Download song/album, or alternatively go into playlists and update/download the playlist
As mentioned above, this issue would be mostly resolved if downloaded songs were automatically added (or simply showed up) in library. An option for auto-updating a downloaded playlist would help as well.- view 3 more comments

It could also just be an option on playlists and the mixer: "add all to library"

The file location must exist for us to be able to save to it. Please follow the instructions below to get it to work correctly. If you are still having issue, please let me know.
