Will a Sony mp3 player work with Rhapsody?
My husband bought us each a Sony E Series MP3 player. I checked the MP3 players listed in the Electronics part at the bottom of the screen and don't see my brand listed. So will it still work with Rhapsody?

Mine worked perfectly until this evening. trying to figure it out now.

The best thing to do if you have an MP3 player, and it's not on our supported devices list, is to contact the manufacturer and ask them if it's compatible with subscription music services. Since they're the ones that made the device, they know what it can/can't do, and if it is compatible, they know how to configure it properly.
Robb - What's going on with yours? Are you getting an error message?-
my walkman worked fine with rhapsody until last week, now I'm getting can not play connect to compliant software and update license information error message.

I am about to update my old Sansa Clip and have been looking at the Sony E series Walkman (Great reviews). A C-net review stated that Sony has dropped the Rhapsody DNA whatever that means. But its formats are as follows MP3 / WMA / AAC-LC / L-PCM. I have had Rhapsody to Go for 4 years now and love it. I am assuming since it has WMA it will work just fine; David please correct me if I am wrong.
Also, is there anyway Rhapsody can test some of these popular models to verify if they work? Not everybody wants a Sansa
Thanks-
Just a follow up, I contacted Sony and they said that the E series will work with Rhapsody.

I'm having the same problem with my Sony Walkman. I am a former Napster subscriber. After the transfer of Napster to Rhapsody, my Walkman worked for about two weeks and now I cannot update my the license.

I have a sony MP3 player and it won't allow me to update my license either. I had no problems with Napster, but Rhapsody has been nothing but a pain. I can't listen to any of my music. It says to go to sources on Rhapsody and click update but I can't even find where sources is.

It's very easy to update your license. Make certain you download the Rhapsody software. Then do the following:
1. Log into your Rhapsody account.
2. Connect you device to your computer.
3. Your device should become visible within Rhapsody software.
4. Right-Click on your device.
5. Click format device. Allow the formatting process to complete. In my case it took under 2 minutes. I am using only 2 gigabytes of my 14 gigs of storage. It may take longer if you have more gigs of music.
6. This should re-license your device. -

Same thing here! I havea Sony MP3 and have had it for years, with LOTS of music stored on it, and now it won't work with Rhapsody either. I can't listen to my music either, and I notice my MP3 is not on the list of players Rhapsody supports. What a rip off! I am paying $14.95 a month for a service I cannot use? I now have all my music that is unaccessible? I am beyondfrustrated, and I REFUSE to go out and buy a device I have never needed before. Rhapsody is NOT going force me to do that. I will cancel it out fis and follow the masses over to a different medium. How disappointing.

I have a sony walkman s638f and it works. What model do you have? What error/issue do you have with the walkman?
(note that if your trying to re-license napster subscription tracks, that's not going to work. You have to download the rhapsody version of those tracks since wma licensing is not transferrable.) -

Hi, my old mp3 Sansa quit working so I bought a new Colby and thought I was doing everything right in getting it registered and to transfer the subscription songs onto the new unit. Whatever I did was wrong as I lost all of the songs on the Sansa. Now under rapsody it shows the Colby unit as G:\: and it won't let me transfer my old playlists onto it as it shows that it is not an authorized unit. This is what I found out when I did a Device Compatibility Report :Device Compatibility Report for G:\ :
This PC reports it is running 'Microsoft Windows 7 , 32-bit'
This device supports 'WMDM_MSC' communication protocol
MSC stands for Mass Storage Class. A device in this mode operates similar to a USB Flash Drive.
This device is not compatible with Rhapsody Premier or Rhapsody Premier Plus subscriptions as currently configured.
You may be able to change a setting on this device to make it compatible.
This device is not authorized for the current user 'janderson813@yahoo.com'.
janderson813@yahoo.com has a Rhapsody Premier or Rhapsody Premier Plus subscription
Rhapsody users with a Rhapsody Premier or Rhapsody Premier Plus subscription can transfer Rhapsody subscription content to their authorized devices.
You should be able to transfer purchased or imported tracks to this device.
I am older and don't understand all of these things and could really use some help
Thanks Jim

transfering music to a new Colby.-
Jim, unless the Colby player specifically supports The WMA audio format with DRM or PlayForSure, you won't be able to use it for subscription songs, only for purchased ones.
Check the player's settings/options menu for something like a connection mode or usb mode. If it has one, try changing it to MTP, which is at least a step in the right direction. The MSC mode cannot be used for subscription songs. -
